Tetra Tech CSO is proud to be presenting two papers at the 2012 WEFTEC meeting between September 29 and October 3, 2012. The first paper, entitled Easy and Efficient CSO Monitoring through a Flap Gate, presents the ground-breaking investigation that verified the ability to estimate CSO volume based on the measurements of the inclination of a flap gate and flow depths at CSO outfalls.

The second paper, entitled Efficient Control Improvements: Increasing the Use of Flow Equalization Basins, presents a hydraulic assessment that identifies control improvements for three flow equalization basins in the sanitary sewer network servicing the Northside Service Area of the City of Tulsa, OK.

Ottawa River Action Plan receives Public Works Project of the Year award

The City of Ottawa received an environmental award from the Ontario Public Works Association (OPWA). The award recognizes Real Time Control system improvements made to the City’s combined sewer system as part of the Ottawa River Action Plan. This project previously won the Consulting Engineers of Ontario’s 2012 Environment Award.

The City of Winnipeg initiated the implementation of a Monitoring Program for its combined sewer outfalls in response to the Manitoba Clean Environment Commission’s recommendation that the City take immediate action to instrument combined sewer overflows.

The United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) held their “Mayors Water Summit” on October 27-28, 2011. During this event, Mr. James M. Baker, Mayor of Wilmington, DE, detailed the City’s stormwater control program.

Quebec engineer Jean-Philippe Moreau is the 2011 recipient of the Allen D. Williams Scholarship Award from the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies-Canada (ACEC). Mr. Moreau received his award on June 25, 2011, in Montebello, QC.
